Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

I was SO incredibly excited to get this in my most recent Sample Society Box. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I’m ready to share my thoughts with y’all! First off, let’s see what Benefit’s claims are…

What Benefit Says It Does:

What it is:
A mascara inspired by hair rollers, this super-curling and lifting mascara gives a sexy, wide-eyed look. Its patent-pending Hook ‘n’ Roll™ brush features tiny custom-designed hooks to catch, lift, and curl even short and straight lashes.
What it does:

Bye-bye, eyelash curler! Roller Lash not only lifts and super-curls, but this instant curve-setting formula holds for 12 hours, is easy to remove, and contains provitamin B5 and serine, known for their lash-conditioning benefits.

What I Think It Does:

I do like this mascara a lot. The formula is nice, on the thinner side, and glides on the lashes easily. I do not think this actually “curls” your lashes with the “hook and roll technology.” If you curl you lashes before you apply it it does hold the curl all day long, which I really like. It lengthens nicely and doesn’t flake or smudge on me, even on the lower lashes. I have very watery eyes so that’s a huge win for me.

Although it lengthens really well, I don’t find it to be volumizing, it doesn’t claim to be, I just have longer lashes and am looking for a more volumizing mascara most times.

At the end of the day if I had to choose between this and the Benefit “They’re Real” mascara, I would choose “They’re Real.” It does all of the same things as the “Roller Lash” plus I find it to be more volumizing.

What are your thoughts on the Roller Lash mascara? I’d love to know!

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

Tarte is one of my all time favorite makeup brands. They have amazing, high quality cosmetics plus they’re free of most of the ingredients I like to avoid • A win/win in my book!

I bought this on a whim because I wanted a new concealer that would be similar to Benefit’s “Erase Paste” but either in a tube or with a wand. I didn’t like sticking my fingers in the container.

What Tarte claims it does…

Tarte’s Maracuja Creaseless Concealer offers long-lasting, full coverage in a creamy, velvety texture with pure skin-soothing ingredients. This high-performance natural formula is infused with tarte’s pure maracuja oil, which helps to improve skin’s texture, tone, and moisture content while imparting a brightening, dewy, luminous finish. In addition to promoting healthy skin, this velvety concealer is also ideal for masking discoloration and imperfections such as acne, blemishes, redness, scars, hyperpigmentation, and dark circles. This nutrient-rich, blendable, liquid makeup brightens and restores skin’s natural luster, leaving you with a flawless complexion

What it really does…

I actually completely agree with that description. It’s a very thick consistency so I like to use my fingers to apply it. I squeeze a bit onto my ring finger and then rub it between my fingers to warm it up so it’s a little easier to work with and it becomes this beautiful creamy consistency. It layers really nicely, isn’t drying at all, kdoesn’t crease(!), and covers well. It’s great for anything from under eyes to blemishes. Plus, it’s paraben, petroleum, and phthalate free.  I love this stuff so much I’m thinking about getting two shades when I run out of this tube. One for correcting my undereyes and one for blemishes.

Have you tried this? Let me know in the comments! What are some of your favorite concealers? I love trying out new ones!

Perlier Revitalizing Body Butter $34.46

When it comes to Italian food, we adore a good olive oil. But with this Italian skincare brand, it’s butter that has stolen our hearts—these ultraluxe body butters, in particular. The botanical-based formulas are loaded with nutrients that instantly hydrate and protect skin. What’s more, it leaves skin with a delicate scent (thanks to natural ingredients like almonds and honey) that’s positively delicious.

Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream $38.00 (Birchbox Exclusive)

Unless we make like Thoreau and camp out in the wilderness, it’s nearly impossible to live a fully natural lifestyle. (And even Thoreau went over to his mom’s house to do his laundry.) But it’s nice to know that we can go au naturel with our beauty products, starting with this botanical-packed eye cream. The hardworking formula helps lift sagging skin, brighten under eye circles, and smooth away fine lines using 99% natural ingredients.

Created by sought-after Hollywood hair stylists Amanda George and Neil Weisberg, this luxe shampoo makes us feel more posh with every use (no wonder Victoria Beckham is on their client list). Yes, its antioxidant-packed formula lends megawatt shine to even the dullest hair, but what really hooks us is the scent: crisp, light, and oh-so-clean.

We don’t just throw around the term “A-list,” so believe us when we say this conditioner has serious star power. Created by Beverly Hills stylists Amanda George and Neil Weisberg, it’s a cult favorite—thanks in part to the duo’s client list. Now you know how the likes of Charlize Theron, Kate Hudson, and Victoria Beckham get hydrated, shiny, and supple hair that’s never heavy or dull.

The thought of carrying 20 different pots of eye shadow in our makeup bag is a little daunting. Thankfully, Coastal Scents® has done a little streamlining, creating this bevy of go-with-anything nude and metallic hues in one convenient palette.

Too Faced – “Better Than Sex” Mascara

image1

I wanted to love this, I really did. Everyone has been RAVING about it so when I saw the combo of a mini version of this and a mini shadow insurance I scooped it up!

Let’s start with Too Faced’s claims…

Take home our Better Than Sex mascara and all your desires for lush, incredibly intense lashes will be fulfilled. One application of our collagen-fueled formula and touch of our specially shaped brush will leave you begging for more. One coat and lashes are full, defined and stretched to unbelievable lengths. Two coats and they’re reaching unbelievable heights of drama. Three coats and you’ll believe in magic. $23.00

How it is in real life…

I have to say I agree with all of those claims. One coat and you literally start to look like you have falsies even though it’s not a fiber mascara. Two coats was perfect for me but three started to look a little spidery for my taste. The brush is a really effective shape and helps get to those shorter inner lashes plus it holds a curl beautifully.

The reason I can’t love it though is because about 2/3 through the work day I check the mirror and it is all under my eyes. It flakes and smudges like crazy on me. I tried so hard to love it but it just does not work with my watery eyes.

Have you tried it? What did you think?
