Kate Somerville | ExfoliKate

I bought this on recommendation from my friend who loved it and used it once a week. I’ve used it for a while now and here’s what I think!

First off, as always, here are the claims…

What it is:
A dual-action exfoliation method that seemingly smooths away years in as little as two minutes.

What it is formulated to do:

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate® Intensive Exfoliating Treatment is Kate’s top-selling product, and the next best thing to seeing Kate in the clinic. This signature, expert formula works both physically and enzymatically to deliver safe, dramatic results in one application—and in the comfort of your own home. It effectively combats acne and blackheads, reduces discoloration, and polishes skin for a smooth complexion. Ideal for all skin types except sensitive skin, it harnesses the power of fruit enzymes to clarify skin by removing dead cells and eliminating bacteria. Skin will appear healthy, youthful, and vibrant.

What I Think:

This stuff is AMAZING! It is crazy expensive but, to me, it’s worth it. A teeny tiny bit goes a LOOONG way. I have the 0.5 ounce tube and it’s lasted way longer than I expected!

This is the first scrub I’ve used that I can feel working. Regular scrubs feel good and your face feels clean on the surface but this leaves your skin feeling clean deep down in your pores! Your face feels so incredibly smooth and ready to suck up whatever serum or moisturizer you’re about to put on it. I don’t think I can even truly convey how much I love this stuff! Try it, you won’t regret it!

Ps. I have crazy sensitive skin and I can use this once a week with no irritation whatsoever.

Sephora Collection – Age Defy Eye Cream

FullSizeRender-1

As you all know by now, I have very dry, sensitive skin, so a lot of skin care products are misses for me. This, however, is not one of them. I picked this up on a whim because I wanted an eye cream that was affordable, super moisturizing, and suitable for sensitive skin. I had my eye on the First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 eye cream but this one was cheaper and I’ve had good luck with Sephora skincare in the past, so I decided to give it a shot.

Here are the claims on Sephora’s website…

What it is formulated to do:
This antiaging eye cream is a small wonder that’s packed with active ingredients to instantly refresh the eye area while visibly reducing smile lines. Its updated formula includes HydroSenn+, a natural ingredient proven to deliver immediate and long-lasting hydration more effectively than hyaluronic acid.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Synthetic Fragrances
– Phthalates
– GMOs
– Triclosan

What else you need to know:
HydroSenn+ is a plant-derived ingredient that leaves skin feeling soft and luxuriously comfortable. This fragrance-free formula is ideal for sensitive eyes.

Here’s my take…

I could not be more pleased with this product! It’s unscented, thick and moisturizing, fragrance free, and doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes at all. I can put it on my eyelids and right up to the lower lash line and I have no irritation at all. When I wake up in the morning my eyes feel supple and soft. I had never heard of “HydroSenn+” but it definitely works better for my sensitive skin than Hyaluronic Acid.

I can’t speak to the wrinkle reducing claims because I don’t really have any wrinkles yet but I do feel like the intense moisturization is helping stave them off.

Also, a little goes a long way and all I need for both eyes is a pump/a pump and a half. Although I bought this as a nighttime eye cream, I have tried it during the day and if you don’t wait for it to fully sink in or apply too much it can get gloopy and pilly under your makeup, so watch out for that.

All in all, I love it! It does everything I wanted it to and it’s already lasted me months. I feel like my money was well spent and I will definitely be repurchasing!

If you want to try it out you can buy it here for $25 on Sephora’s website.

Perlier Revitalizing Body Butter $34.46

When it comes to Italian food, we adore a good olive oil. But with this Italian skincare brand, it’s butter that has stolen our hearts—these ultraluxe body butters, in particular. The botanical-based formulas are loaded with nutrients that instantly hydrate and protect skin. What’s more, it leaves skin with a delicate scent (thanks to natural ingredients like almonds and honey) that’s positively delicious.

Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream $38.00 (Birchbox Exclusive)

Unless we make like Thoreau and camp out in the wilderness, it’s nearly impossible to live a fully natural lifestyle. (And even Thoreau went over to his mom’s house to do his laundry.) But it’s nice to know that we can go au naturel with our beauty products, starting with this botanical-packed eye cream. The hardworking formula helps lift sagging skin, brighten under eye circles, and smooth away fine lines using 99% natural ingredients.

Created by sought-after Hollywood hair stylists Amanda George and Neil Weisberg, this luxe shampoo makes us feel more posh with every use (no wonder Victoria Beckham is on their client list). Yes, its antioxidant-packed formula lends megawatt shine to even the dullest hair, but what really hooks us is the scent: crisp, light, and oh-so-clean.

We don’t just throw around the term “A-list,” so believe us when we say this conditioner has serious star power. Created by Beverly Hills stylists Amanda George and Neil Weisberg, it’s a cult favorite—thanks in part to the duo’s client list. Now you know how the likes of Charlize Theron, Kate Hudson, and Victoria Beckham get hydrated, shiny, and supple hair that’s never heavy or dull.

The thought of carrying 20 different pots of eye shadow in our makeup bag is a little daunting. Thankfully, Coastal Scents® has done a little streamlining, creating this bevy of go-with-anything nude and metallic hues in one convenient palette.

Too Faced – “Better Than Sex” Mascara

image1

I wanted to love this, I really did. Everyone has been RAVING about it so when I saw the combo of a mini version of this and a mini shadow insurance I scooped it up!

Let’s start with Too Faced’s claims…

Take home our Better Than Sex mascara and all your desires for lush, incredibly intense lashes will be fulfilled. One application of our collagen-fueled formula and touch of our specially shaped brush will leave you begging for more. One coat and lashes are full, defined and stretched to unbelievable lengths. Two coats and they’re reaching unbelievable heights of drama. Three coats and you’ll believe in magic. $23.00

How it is in real life…

I have to say I agree with all of those claims. One coat and you literally start to look like you have falsies even though it’s not a fiber mascara. Two coats was perfect for me but three started to look a little spidery for my taste. The brush is a really effective shape and helps get to those shorter inner lashes plus it holds a curl beautifully.

The reason I can’t love it though is because about 2/3 through the work day I check the mirror and it is all under my eyes. It flakes and smudges like crazy on me. I tried so hard to love it but it just does not work with my watery eyes.

Have you tried it? What did you think?

Tarte CC Bronzer Blush – Park Ave Princess – Pink Bronze

image1

I was so excited to get this as a gift from one of my best friends for christmas! I have loved every Tarte Product I’ve ever tried and I hadn’t ever heard of or seen this before. The first thing I noticed was how beautiful the packaging is. It reminds me of a stone from the desert or something, so unique, and the inside is even prettier. The pattern pressed into the pigment is absolutely gorgeous!

Now onto the actual product inside…You can purchase it online here.

Here are the claims –

“All-over buildable bronzer blush infused with color-correcting colored clay.

Product Performance: Glow beyond with tarte’s latest complexion-enhancing essential. This all-over mineral powder delivers natural radiance and instant dimension with the perfect balance of bronzer and blush for any skin tone. Offered in a gorgeously warm park ave princess™ bronze shades, the buildable formula imparts the perfect level of sunkissed radiance as the nutrient-rich powder brightens skin without appearing dry or flakey. Infused with tarte’s revolutionary colored clay, this skinvigorating™ formula helps to restore gentle skin balance and defend against free radical damage.”

Here’s my take –

It’s a light bronzer/blush/highlight combo. I wouldn’t call it “all over” because of the shimmer and the fact that you can’t just dip your brush in one color. You’re inevitably going to get some pink and you definitely don’t want that all over. It is perfect to throw in your bag if you just need a little something to perk up your look throughout the day because it gives a glowy, healthy, lit from within look and it’ll definitely give you that “sun kissed” look. All of the colors are shimmery but not at all glittery or shiny looking and it doesn’t have that annoying overspray of glitter on the top. This is the perfect product to sweep on your cheeks before you run out the door and you’re set. I am so happy she got it for me and I’m loving it!

Urban Decay Naked Basics 2

Urban Decay Naked Basics 2

I got this for Christmas and have used it pretty much every day since. All of the colors are super creamy and pigmented plus they blend really easily. It’s perfect for travel too, every color you could want for a basic neutral eye all the way to a super smoky one.

IMG_0362

I think every travel palette should have a dark, mostly, matte shade if it’s going to be totally versatile. That’s one of the main  reasons I chose this one over the “On The Run” Palette. The darkest shade in that one is a deep, super sparkly, brown. This dark, smoky, gray is nice and pigmented but still easy to blend out, it also works great as a liner. The sparkle doesn’t even really show up on the skin. The shimmer in the “Skimp” shade does show up pretty well on the skin and is a perfect highlight color.
